The things you think of when alone
Some recent events have made me think about life and my choices within the last couple years. I have realized that everyone should be nicer to each other.... I know that's something you learn when you're in public school, but it seems as we get older we start to pass judgement on others and rather than giving them a chance, we automatically shun certain people out of our lives just because they aren't like you.
The only reason that I'm saying this is because you never know what people are dealing with. You don't know what their personal demons are, you don't know if they're struggling with anything and you don't know what they've been through in the past. I'm naturally a very empathetic person... I feel the pain of others and any bad news makes me cry. It's just how I am. So when I reflect on my actions and start piecing together that hey, I might not have been the nicest person to a handful of people... it hurts. It really hits home.
Just try being there for EVERYONE. Doesn't matter who they are, doesn't matter what they wear, doesn't matter where they live, doesn't matter who their parents are, doesn't matter what their social status is... be nice to everyone. Lend an ear, give people hugs whenever you can and remember it's typically the one's who seem the happiest that are dealing with deep issues. Don't let friends or family tell you who you should and shouldn't acknowledge. Allow yourself to open up and be there for everyone. Put yourself in their shoes, listen to their stories, give advice, invite people out for coffee or just to hang out. Do SOMETHING to make the other people around you feel like they're wanted and noticed.
Be kind.
